Welcome to the Career Trek, a professional development trip for Second Year Scholars in the Transformational Leadership Program (TLP). Join us for our 2025 trip to the ATL where you'll meet with business leaders in various fields and tour their organizations so that you can put your professional skills into practice.  You might even come home with a new career connection or internship opportunity!

▼   When is the next Career Trek?
The 2025 Career Trek will take place from March 5 - 7 (Wednesday through Friday) on Spring Break and will be a trip to Atlanta, GA. 
▼   What Employers will be visited on the Trek?

Employers who were visited in 2024:

  • Chick-fil-A Headquarters
  • Emory Hospital
  • Atlanta Beltline Inc. 
  • Kia Westpoint Automotive Plant
  • Atlanta Contemporary Art

If you have completed the application form, you will be notified once we have finalized the details of the trip for 2025. We try our hardest to meet an employer that fits most majors. 

▼   Am I eligible go on the Trek?
The Career Trek is available to all Second Year Experience (SYE) Scholars who are currently enrolled in the Transformational Leadership Program (TLP) course on USAOnline.
▼   What are the requirements for the Trek?

Requirements to participate in the Career Trek may include:

  • Completion of a Career Trek Confirmation form to verify your attendance
  • Liability and Travel forms
  • Attendance to at least one Career Trek Informational Meeting
    • Monday, January 27th - 1:00 pm to 2:00pm
    • Tuesday, January 28th - 5:00 pm to 6:00pm
    • Wednesday, January 29th - 5:00 pm to 6:00pm
    • Thursday, January 30th - 12:00 pm to 1:00pm
  • Attend one of the Professional Development Opportunities Listed Below:
    • Tuesday, February 11th - 4:30pm to 5:30pm
    • Wednesday, February 12th - 12:00pm to 1:00pm
  • The Sharpening Your Claws badge in the TLP Canvas Course, which entails:
      • Attending a Career Counseling meeting with SYE's Experiential Learning Coordinator, Cassie Beth Gannaway.
      • Creating a Handshake Profile
      • Crafting and Uploading a Jagtastic resume
▼   Do I have to pay to go on the Trek?
Hotel, travel, and meals for the Career Trek will be covered by the Second Year Experience program. This is an all-expenses-paid trip for students, but you may pay out-of-pocket for any souvenirs, snacks, or extra things you want on the trip.
▼   What attire and items should I bring on the Trek?

We will review professional attire at the February Transformational Tuesday and at the Career Trek Professional Informational Sessions in preparation for the Career Trek. Additionally, you will be able to check out the Jag Clothes Closet in Career Development on campus if you are in need to professional attire. The Jaguar Clothes Closet provides attire free of charge based on inventory and availability.

You will be provided with an itinerary and packing list prior to the beginning of the trip. We will also provide you with a guide to professional attire to help you decide what clothing may be appropriate for professional settings both on the Career Trek and as you progress on your own professional journey.
