About the Ambassador Program
School of Computing Student Ambassadors
The School of Computing Student Ambassadors are outstanding Undergraduate computing
students
who are leaders in extracurricular activities and excel in academics. The role of
the SoC Student Ambassadors is to help promote and support our school.
Ambassador Duties
Their duties consist of, but are not limited to:
- Helping with recruiting events including USA Days, Jag Days, and College Preview Days.
- Participating in Week of Welcome (WOW) events.
- Representing the school in meetings with external constituents such as our SoC Advisory Board.
- Helping with SoC tailgating events during football season.
- Providing support at the School of Computing Spring Celebration, honor society inductions, and alumni reception.
Student Ambassadors are selected each spring and the selection criteria is as follows:
- Have completed at least one semester at South.
- Minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Must be a full-time student; enrolled in at least 12 credit hours during all semester they serve as an ambassador.
- Student Ambassadors will be expected to provide approximately 12 hours of support
time each semester to be eligible to retain their position for each upcoming semester.
Application/Selection Process
Applications will be available in early February.
An interview with a committee of School of Computing representatives will take place
for students who are selected to advance to the second round of the selection process
based on their initial application.
Students beginning serving once selected and can continue to serve as long as they
remain in good standing and are full-time undergraduate students.
Ambassadors in good standing at that time will not have to reapply.
